We are one step closer! Today we had our much anticipated home study. A social worker from our agency came out and spent about 5 hours at our house questioning us, Caroline, and looking around the house. I told my mom today that I felt more anxious about the home study than labor...;) BUT in all seriousness, I was really nervous. It's an awkward feeling to have someone coming into OUR space and it feels like an invasion of privacy.
Much to my surprise, I was TOTALLY wrong. It was perfect! Really, we couldn't have asked for a better experience. I know we have a lot of people praying for us and that was evident today. We talked about everything from our marriage, our up bringing, our extended family, discipline, and one of the most important things...what it will look like to be a "transracial" family.
After 5 long hours she told us right away that we were APPROVED. I don't know why, but I guess I expected she would get back to us or come back for another visit. What a relief. We are approved for 2 children ages 18 months and younger.
Now we have to wait 6-8 weeks to get our completed home study, submit it then to CIS (Citizen & Immigration Services), wait for their approval, and then we are DTE (Dossier to Ethiopia) BABY!! Then, is when the real fun begins....waiting!
