It was only 2 days ago that I noticed she had a loose tooth. I won't go into the immediate emotions I had, but....we gave her a little lesson on trying not to swallow her tooth that would soon be coming out.
Fast forward 2 days, today, the day she lost it. I assumed we would be pulling it out for her eventually, but nope it just dropped right out. I happened to glance at Caroline and it was GONE. WHERE WAS THE TOOTH?? She had just finished eating a sandwich so I assumed she swallowed it. Y'all I was SOOO sad. Is it odd that I want to keep her old rotten nasty teeth? So now this is all we hear in our house for the next 10 minutes "Well, how will the tooth fairy come if I DON'T HAVE A TOOTH?" We convinced her to go in the backyard and get a pebble. Caroline then decided she needed to write the tooth fairy a letter explaining what happened and why there was no tooth, but a pebble instead.
While all of this is going on I'm still in denial that she swallowed the tooth and I'm desperately looking through the trash in hopes that it might be in there. I'm also thinking through where and how I would hide this letter she is writing to the tooth fairy. I found out all too early about the tooth fairy when I found my letter explaining I want to be a princess along with all my teeth in moms jewelry box. Is this where I get my bad habit of wanting to keep rotten teeth? I would NEVER think of keeping a rotten umbilical cord...
If you are a mom to ANY amount of children you know that after any meal the broom, the dog, or the vacuum must come out. I swept up a fairly large pile of crumbs and THERE IT WAS, my precious babies first tooth ever lost. I can't wait to see what the tooth fairy has in store! We just might have to make the tooth fairy put on some tinkerbell wings.
