Finally at last...some home renovation pics! We bought our home last June and we spent several months remodeling. We hired a contractor that did a lot of the sheetrock work, but Keith did most of the work himself. Thankfully he is very handy and that has saved us tons of money! The trimwork ended up being a HUGE undertaking. We lived in the middle of it for several months. Keith had his very loud nail gun inside the house while I was mommy on overtime. Most of the houses in our neighborhood were built in the 80s-brown, dim, and low ceilings. One plus- we thoroughly love our heaters in the bathrooms! If you remember I blogged on this awhile back...our main goal was to SIMPLIFY and to begin using money as a resource to further God's kingdom and not our lifestyle. We cut our square footage in half as part of the downsize. We sold off literally half of our belongings and if it wasn't "useful or beautiful" to us it was either donated or sold. We love our location. We live in northwest Austin where we have lots of hills, we see deer in our front yard every morning, and we are super close to everything.
Here's what we did throughout the entire house:
1. removed all popcorn off the ceilings
2. replaced all trim, windowsills, and baseboards
3. replaced all doors and hardware
4. installed can lights and painted or replaced the fixtures
4. new carpet
5. fresh paint (We went with Sherwin Williams "neutral ground" on the walls and "greek villa" for all trim. I can thank my mom for her good taste in paint colors!)
What we did in the living room:
1. removed all paneling
2. removed the spindles between the kitchen and living room
3. removed the wet bar
4. removed the built in bookcase next to the fireplace
5. Keith wrapped the ceiling beam and mantle with cedar
