new years resolutions

You either love them or you hate them. I love them. I typically don't go to the extend of writing them down, but I think setting goals for yourself can only be a good thing. My brain naturally begins to start thinking of them around Halloween. I know, weird!

2011 was a great year. I think God disciplined us in so many ways. There were times when maybe I didn't understand, but I can rest in knowing these 2 things that we learned this morning at church 1. His name will be exalted AND 2. all things work to the good for those that love Him.

So, here we go...

1. Having more intentional, authentic Bible study time. I'm so guilty of giving God the left overs at the end of the day. There's just something about morning quiet times. It sets the tone for the entire day. I'd like to see myself up before the kids are up spending time reading and I'm going to start journaling. "Goodness in equals goodness out. No goodness in equals no goodness out."

2. Healthier lifestyle-more fruit and more veggies. Less Casserole. Less Casserole. Less Casserole. Oh, and less processed food! That. Is. It.

3. Books, Books, Books...I've made a list for 2012. I have about 10-12 books I would like to get through. We don't have cable anymore just a few stations we pick up with the antennae so in a way we are forced to read and not watch mindless TV. I am SUPER SUPER excited about my list. Lots of Jen Hatmaker books! Also, Keith's boss got us a Kindle for Christmas (nice gift, huh?!)

4. Continue to grow in our desire to not be a part of the American consumerism world we live in. In 2011 God worked in us in a BIG BIG way in this area. BUT I hope we continue to grow in this area and constantly be challenged. Do we really need that big screen TV? Lord, help us to be focused on your kingdom and things that are eternal.

5. Dating my husband-I'd like to see us having regular dates. I know people that go out once a week! I fail miserably in this area. :( Keith comes before my kids, bottomline. This is going to sound so cheesy, but we always say marriage is like a business. If you want to have a successful business you have to work hard at it right? Well, it really goes the same for marriage. Having date night makes me a better wife, but also a better mommy!

What's your new years resolution?

Will someone please potty train me this year? K, thanks. I'm really ready to be a big boy!
